GP Supervisors Australia is seeking expressions of interest from members who would like to be part of a working group to establish a reconciliation action plan for the organisation.
The plan is being developed under Reconciliation Australia guidelines and will support GPSA’s strategic direction so that the organisation moves forward with equality and equity for Indigenous Australians firmly in mind.
Chief executive Glen Wallace says he hopes to have the group in place by the end of this month with the first meeting to be held in mid-December.
“It is important that we have member representation in this initiative,” he said.
“It will be a small-but-focused team that will help establish the framework for the plan by providing input on drafts and other resources.
“As individuals, members will have their own areas of expertise but be able to work together as a whole to create something that will ultimately have a positive impact on the health of Indigenous Australians.”
Involvement is voluntary and will involve committing to about six video meetings over 18 months.
There is also scope to be involved in important Indigenous health events such as NAIDOC and Close the Gap weeks.
