Meet RVTS Supervisor: Dr Ashraf Labib

GP Supervisor Dr Ashraf Labib grew up near Cairo, Egypt where he later completed his medical degree and began training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr Labib moved to Australia in 1994 and after successfully completing the AMC medical examination processes he began work as an intern at St George Hospital in Sydney where he quickly progressed to the position of Resident Medical Officer (RMO). In 2001 Dr Labib accepted the position of a solo GP in the NSW town of Trangie, about 75km west of Dubbo and shortly after began Registrar training with the pilot Remote Vocational Training Scheme now the Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS).

Following the completion of his RACGP fellowship, Dr Labib was pleased to be asked to supervise other RVTS Registrars in neighbouring rural towns and also regularly accepts university medical students for educational placements in the Trangie Family Medical Service and the Trangie Multipurpose Medical Service (MPHS Hospital).
