The National Terms and Conditions for the Employment of GP Registrars (NTCER) 2017/18 came into effect on September 21, 2016.
The current agreement applies from the start of the training year in 2017 and covers GP registrars in GPT1, GPT2, GPT3 and GPT4. It supersedes the NTCER 2015/16 agreement.
No major changes have been made to the agreement and base and percentage rates remain unchanged. Read the summary of changes.
These terms and conditions have been accepted as fair and reasonable by GPRA and GPSA.
To make training sustainable in an ever more difficult financial environment it is strongly recommended that practices
- Pay no more than the agreed percentages
- Pay these percentages no less than three monthly
- Pay on receipts
Finally as registrar wages are largely funded through a Fee for Service model, for sustainability, it is important that there are adequate patient numbers to cover these wages and associated on-costs.
